My next interview in my series is with Priyanka Rupani!

Priyanka Rupani is the current Assistant Principal at Francis Parker and DEIB practitioner.  As a daughter of immigrants, Ms. Rupani found the value of education at a young age and attended Lab School for high school. Ms. Rupani also gained an appreciation for navigating multiple cultures, which led her to DEIB leadership work. At Lab, Ms. Rupani was able to embrace her culture and identity as a South Asian American woman and understood that there is no one way to be Asian, something she hopes others can embrace. She also found the value of student leadership. From there, Ms. Rupani became involved in the Student Leadership Diversity Conference and active in student leadership.

Ms. Rupani hopes that through her DEIB work at Parker, all students feel like they belong in the community. She values seeing not only similarities, but also differences and finding ways to discuss differences. Further, Ms. Rupani believes that the root of DEIB is love, and wants to steer DEIB away from being combative. Instead, she wants to focus on human interaction and connection.

With her thorough background in DEIB and student leadership programming at various schools, Ms. Rupani began her career at Parker during COVID. Given the current turbulent political climate, Ms. Rupani believes in protecting Parker students and standing firm on Parker’s values and mission. She also believes in the importance of educating students about emerging issues, such as AI use and sustainability.
